We understand that these are very challenging times for everyone. We do have policies and procedures in place for the safety of our patients, staff and community. Since November, our visitor policy has moved back to Phase 1, stating that no visitors are permitted in hospital unless there are extenuating circumstances (i.e. cognitive impairment or disability). Anyone 18 years old and under is able to have someone accompany them in the hospital if they are in need of care and any labouring patient can have a support person in the birthing unit.
With our limited space and seating, along with the spread of COVID-19 in the community, we are putting a priority on the safety of patients and families and ask that you do not bring other people, including infants/children with you if you have an appointment. Please plan ahead to ensure that you can come for an appointment in-hospital individually.
If you are unable to come individually (i.e. child care needs), we will accommodate you as best we can. You may need to reschedule an appointment to best accommodate our policy. Anyone in need of immediate medical care will receive it, and we will work with the patient if there are extenuating circumstances.
As a community hospital, we have very high standards and take the safety of our patients and community members very seriously, especially our little ones. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Our job is to provide safe, high quality care and we will continue to do so throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
