SMH Extends Operation of COVID-19, Cold & Flu Clinic

[New Tecumseth, ON – April 21, 2022] Due to demand and increased transmission of COVID-19 in the community, Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) in partnership with community physicians is extending operation of its COVID-19, Cold & Flu Clinic. The Clinic will be open three days a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1-5 p.m. starting Monday, April 25, 2022. The Clinic is available for anyone who is experiencing mild to moderate or worsening symptoms of COVID-19 or flu who would like to receive in-person care.

“We’ve seen higher volumes of individuals and families through the Clinic in the past two weeks and want to make sure we are offering as much support as we can to those who need it,” says Dr. Matthew Myatt, Chief of Emergency, SMH. “This additional operation day will provide more access to care for the community and will also continue to help offset some of the pressure our Emergency Department is experiencing in the hospital.”

Appointments are required to access the Clinic, which can be booked by calling (249) 501-0383. The Clinic is located in the lower parking lot of the hospital at 200 Fletcher Crescent in Alliston.

Upon arrival, patients are asked to remain in their vehicle and call the Clinic to inform staff of their arrival. For safety purposes, staff will inform the patient when they can enter.

COVID-19 Testing will continue to take place separately at the COVID-19 Assessment Centre. Hours of operation of the COVID-19 Assessment Centre are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eligibility has recently changed for testing. Anyone 70 years of age and up with COVID-19 symptoms are eligible for a PCR test at a COVID-19 Assessment Centre. For more on COVID-19 testing eligibility, please visit www.stevensonhospital.ca.
