[New Tecumseth, ON – May 10, 2024] – Effective Monday, May 13, 2024 Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) will be lowering their mask requirement in the hospital. Masks will continue to be available but will be optional in all areas of the hospital, unless a patient is experiencing viral/respiratory illness symptoms. These changes are due to the decrease in COVID-19/viral cases and the community risk assessment by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit remaining low.
SMH will continue to be a mask-friendly environment and any request by a patient for a staff member, physician or volunteer to wear a mask will be followed.
“We appreciate and thank our community for following our infection prevention and control policies while visiting the hospital,” says Julia Mullen, VP Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive, SMH. “SMH continues to be a mask-friendly facility and as always, the safety of our patients, staff, physicians and volunteers remains a priority.”
Visitors of patients are required to self-screen for COVID-19/viral symptoms and are asked to not enter the hospital if they are unwell.
