Maternal Health & Obstetrics

Welcome to The Midwife (MINT) Program

Midwifery Integration in New Tecumseth (MINT) at Stevenson Memorial Hospital

The MINT Program is here to provide exceptional care and support for growing families in our community—especially those who don’t have a primary care provider or quick access to one.\

As part of Ontario’s Expanded Midwifery Care Model (EMCM), we proudly offer fully funded maternity services up to 8 weeks postpartum, regardless of insurance or OHIP coverage. Our hospital-based clinic is conveniently located on the Main Floor of SMH, within the same area as the OB Clinic.

Our Services

We provide a range of services to ensure that expectant and new parents receive timely, high-quality care.

For Newborns & Postpartum Parents

Services We Offer

  • Newborn Exams & Early Discharge Support – Our midwives assess newborns and assist in early hospital discharge for those opting for a shorter stay, helping families settle in at home sooner.
  • Postpartum Wellness Checks – We offer postpartum checkups for both parents and babies, including breastfeeding support and guidance.
  • Jaundice Care & Home Phototherapy – We provide bilirubin follow-ups, and soon, home phototherapy will be available for babies with jaundice.

MINT vs. Alliston Midwives—What’s the Difference?

MINT vs. Alliston Midwives—What’s the Difference?

While The MINT Program is often staffed by midwives from Alliston Midwives, it is a separate hospital-based service.
  • MINT provides short-term care and support for families without a primary care provider. We work closely with obstetricians and nursing staff to offer comprehensive, hospital-integrated care.
  • Alliston Midwives provide full-scope midwifery care from the start of pregnancy through delivery and up to 6 weeks postpartum.
If you’re looking for continuous midwifery care throughout pregnancy, please contact Alliston Midwives directly:
