Temporary Disruption of CT Services
January 28, 2026
SMH is on a journey to transform and revitalize our hospital with the build of a new health care facility. The new facility will wrap around the current hospital building, more than doubling the size of the hospital. Construction is slated to begin in 2026.
In preparation for the construction of the new building to begin, one of the last preliminary projects that needs to take place is the move of the CT scanner/Suite to a new repurposed space in the hospital. The current CT suite is located in the excavation zone for the new building and requires demolition and removal, which is why the relocation is necessary. It will remain in the new space until the new hospital build is complete (early 2029).
The move of the CT scanner will start on Monday, February 2, 2026 and is anticipated to be complete by February 10, which includes calibration and testing. During this timeframe, CT services at SMH will not be available.
SMH will be partnering with local hospitals in the region to ensure continuity of care for our patients. Any patient in need of CT services during our downtime will be transported to a local facility. Dedicated transportation has been arranged, as well as a nurse to accompany the patient during transport.
We will be sure to provide progress updates regarding the move of our CT scanner and re-opening of our CT Suite.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to progress along our exciting hospital redevelopment journey!
